SAFE® Safe Attachment Formation for Educators
A training program to enhance secure attachment between parents and child
Dear parents-to-be,
Pregnancy, birth, and parenthood raise a multitude of questions. Parents may feel increasingly uncertain or they disagree about what is best for their baby.
• How do I become a good mother or a good father -- from couple to parents?
• Do parents have to be there continuously-- day nursery, yes or no?
• What to do if their needs differ from those of their baby?
• When does spoiling begin; at what point does a baby need limits, and what kind of limits?
• What to do when my baby cries or can't fall asleep despite my loving attention?
• How can I avoid unconsciously transmitting my own traumatic childhood experiences?
SAFE® seminars will help you to develop a sense of certainty in your in your daily relationship with your baby. You will learn during pregnancy how to respond sensitively, promptly, and appropriately to your child's signals. As a result, your baby will develop a secure attachment to you. This is the best foundation that parents can give their children. Research has shown that securely attached children are more self-assured, resilient, and socially competent throughout their lives.
